This post brought to you by WeReward. All opinions are 100% mine.
Earlier this week Forrester Research released a report on location based services. The report found that almost 80% of users are essentially young, geeky males and that close to 70% of people using social location applications are between 19 and 35. Another study by Robert J. Moore, CEO at RJMetrics concluded that men outnumber women almost 2-to-1 on Foursquare.
WeReward.com offers a different value proposition than other location based services. We are not a game. We don?t peddle badges or ego boosters. We provide users with a fun way earn cash rewards with over 15 million businesses in the United States. We have found that our demographics are different than those of traditional location based services, and believe our value proposition is a key driver behind this phenomenon.
A More Mature User Base with Strong Female Participation
WeReward appeals to a wider range of users than other location based services. We enjoy strong female participation, with women representing 41.6% of our user base. Our users also skew older than other services. Overall 72.5% of our users are between the ages of 25 and 49. Our mature user base represents a larger spending capacity, particularly when it comes to household goods. This makes tasks in WeReward particularly relevant for consumer product manufacturers.
Geographic Dispersion
While the platform is still young we have seen particularity strong uptake on the east coast. Florida (home of WeReward) has the most users, followed by California, Texas and New York.
Operating System
iPhone users represent 81.3% of our beloved Oinkers. Android represents 18.6%, but this version of WeReward has been available for less than a month. As of today the WeReward app is ranked #12 in the iTunes store for free social media applications. Our Blackberry App will be available in August.

Hi Ted,
WeReward is looking great, however are there any plans on launching this service outside of the US? I believe this service would be well received over here in the UK.
Thanks,
Darren
