Randy and I were having lunch in downtown Orlando today when someone appeared to have dropped their wallet. People shouted out to the person who dropped the wallet and Randy ran over and picked it up. When he tried to give it to the person who dropped it they said “Keep it. It’s on the King”.
The wallet contained a special BK $1 bill (legal tender), a $5 BK gift card and other random BK stuff. By the time we got back to the office a few others had found wallets too, everyone was talking about them. I love clever marketing, this was some very well done word of mouth for Burger King.

That’s pretty clever! Props to their marketing team for coming up with that.
maaaan i hate this idea.
WHy u people don’t like burger king.
What a great marketing idea!
Oh my god, this is the best promotional stunt I have ever seen in my life! Seriously!
If any of the other IZEA folks pics one up, is there any chance that someone might be willing to share? I’d love to get my hands on one of these… maybe I have something to trade?
SEX: YES!
The King is getting some sweet sweet lovin’ in between appearances.
I hope he isn’t into whoppers…
That is an awesome promotion. I have a friend who love the Burger King character because of the creepy smile. I’ll send him the link.
lol @ whopper donor
That’s fantastic. We’re doing something similar as a direct mail. Sending potential clients wallets full of fake money that their current agency “stole” from them that they can use to test our the services at our agency.
That’s AWESOME! I’ve seen and heard about a lot of clever stunts — but this one is one of the tops, if not THE top!
Great post!
OMG, that is too freaking cute! I love the SEX: YES best of all.
you would love the sex cheap tart
Man! How come I feel like I will never see one of these wallets?
@Jipped:
I found out that some of the wallets have hundreds of dollars in them.
What an AMAZING marketing idea!
This happened to my husband today! He got a $10 bill, plus the GC in his wallet. Very creative marketing Burger King/
Just found one tonight in old historic downtown Scottsdale in Arizona. All the same stuff shown above, but mine only had a $1 bill. It did however have a $5 Burger King gift card.
I work at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona and they were dropping these off around the campus today. Our office found 7 of them. Very smart idea!
Clever? Yes, when it was done 15 years ago for GE Financial. This is just a rip off of someone else’s idea.
I found one at Mills Mall in Tempe, Az. $5 gift card and a $1 bill.
@B:
Most ideas are recycled in some way. I still think Burger King did a great job on the execution.
Didn’t Crispin do this exact concept a few years ago for Starbucks where instead of a wallet it was a coffee left on the roof of a car… I’m seeing a ton of regurgitation in their work lately, what is happening over there have all of the good creatives moved on?

Wow, I would love to get one of these. It would be great if BK did this kind of promotion in England.
Don’t suppose somebody would be kind enough to send one over to England please? =)
@FUCKTHEKING:
sorry but at 8:30 is shift change and they just finished getting slammed one of the worst times to come in and it sounds like you deserved the spit
Dang that is really cool. I would love to get a free wallet loaded with a $5 gift card. In this economy anything given out for free can help out. I wonder though how much money the company actually spent on each wallet and filling it up with the gift card and the random bk propaganda. I guess its all about getting your name out. Most meals at burger king are more than $5.00 and most people don’t go to a fastfood joint to eat alone. So that was pretty smart on their part. Where can I get one of those wallets? I could use a free $5.00 meal. I’m serious!
Who’s taking bets they pull this stunt again this year? By far one of the most original ideas I’ve seen and without a doubt a huge generator of buzz for BK. Kudo’s to them for doing something different.
that’s very good info
i think i will put some my own blog 😀
cheers
Look at all the buzz it’s created on just this one website.
